Twixt Trailer Arrives
Francis Ford Coppola's new indie.... You might recall that, as part of this year's Comic-Con, Francis Ford Coppola made a return to the event, bringing some footage of his indie horror thriller Twixt. Well, if you were wondering what we saw that day, now you don't have to think twice about it. The film is premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival and the fest has shoved the first trailer online, which you can watch below. While this isn't everything that Coppola showed off during his presentation, it's a sizeable promo that runs longer than three minutes, which finds low-rent horror writer Hal Baltimore (Val Kilmer) arriving in a paranoid small town with some very dark secrets. And now maybe you can get an idea of what the man who made Apocalypse Now was going on about when he talked up Twixt's quirky, unique style. It doesn't completely translate - the digital shooting style still doesn't give the film the right sheen and some of the performances appear distinctly awkward. But there's a luminescent turn by Elle Fanning and Kilmer doing his thing. As well as launching at the festival, Coppola plans to take the film on tour and remix scenes live to the audience's wishes along with some live score work. Could be an interesting way to see the movie, but given that it doesn't yet have an official US distributor, much less a UK release set, don't sit on the edge of your seat for that experience just yet...
